Victoria Claflin, daughter of Buckman and Roxanna Claflin, was born in Homer, Ohio on September 23, 1838. She ran for President of the United States in 1872. For a number of reasons the family was encouraged to leave Homer when Victoria was a youngster. She went on to live a colorful life.
The Homer Library has a number of books about the Claflins and Victoria. There is also a scrapbook of newspaper articles that have been written over the years. There is an Ohio Historical Marker at the library honoring Victoria.
